Instagram

Instagram has launched the Repost feature, which allows users to reshare Reels and public posts directly to their own feed, adding a personal note while keeping the original creator visible. Simply tap the two-arrow icon under the content, optionally add a comment in the bubble, and voilà — the post is shared and stored in a dedicated “Reposts” section on your profile. The feature is available only for public profiles, and the original author is always credited in the shared content. This update offers creators and brands increased visibility and encourages audience engagement in a quick and easy way.

Additionally, an interactive map (Instagram Map) has been introduced within messages, which — only with user permission — can display the last active location and help discover shared content in the area.

Finally, a new “Friends” tab is coming to Reels, where you can see what your contacts have shared or liked, with tools to hide your own activity or mute others’ interactions.

TikTok

TikTok has introduced a new analytics tool to help brands and advertisers better understand the real impact of their campaigns. Based on the GRO model, the system measures effectiveness by going beyond simple last-click conversions, also evaluating the medium-term influence of ads. This approach makes it possible to assign the right weight to different user interactions with the content. The goal is to provide more accurate data to optimize strategies and advertising investments on the platform.

Meta

WhatsApp has started sending automatic warning messages to alert users about potential scams or suspicious messages, aiming to protect them from more sophisticated fraud attempts such as phishing or smishing. These alerts are triggered when the platform detects potentially fraudulent content or dangerous links, prompting users to think twice before interacting. The change is part of Meta’s broader effort to strengthen in-app security, providing an additional defensive layer against scams that exploit trust and the viral nature of private chats. The ultimate goal is to reduce the spread of deceptive content disguised as harmless messages.

Google

Google has unveiled Gemini 2.5 Deep Think, an advanced mode of the Gemini 2.5 Pro model that uses a multi-agent system: different “parts” of the AI work in parallel to develop ideas, evaluate them, and synthesize results before delivering a final answer. This approach enables the model to tackle complex tasks — such as coding, logical problems, and scientific research — with greater depth compared to the standard mode.

X

X has introduced an age verification system in response to new Online Safety Act regulations in the UK and Ireland, aimed at limiting minors’ access to sensitive content. To determine a user’s age, the platform uses reliable signals, such as existing data, account history, or special badges, and, when needed, offers methods like AI-powered selfies or ID document uploads. However, many users report difficulties with the process, which currently seems available only to X Premium subscribers, leaving many non-subscribers without access. The measure has sparked debate over its privacy implications and for introducing a divide between paying and non-paying users.

WhatsApp

WhatsApp has introduced Private Message Summaries, an AI-powered feature that creates a brief synopsis of unread messages in individual and group chats when there’s a large volume to catch up on. The AI runs via Private Processing technology, ensuring that neither WhatsApp nor Meta can see the original content or the summaries. The summary is activated manually via a dedicated button and is visible only to the requesting user, without notifications or indicators for other participants. Currently, the feature is available only in English for users in the United States, but the goal is to expand it to more languages and countries by year’s end.

LinkedIn

LinkedIn now allows replacing the cover image of articles and newsletters with a horizontal video placed at the top of the content to make it more eye-catching in the feed. These videos autoplay in the timeline, while in subscription emails they appear as clickable thumbnails. LinkedIn recommends using short clips (around 30 seconds or less) in 16:9 format to fit the layout and maximize visual impact.

Threads

Meta has updated the Threads API with new tools for content managers and community admins. You can now add polls, location tags, and topic tags to posts created via third-party apps, as well as quickly publish and delete text-only threads. The API also allows access to public profiles and posts, filtering searches by date, tracking clicks, and receiving real-time notifications. These updates are designed to make managing Threads easier and more complete, even outside the app.
